Mother's Day in Seville

Planned on going to church this morning but found out there is only one LDS chapel in Seville that is at the far end of the city of well over a million people.  Taking a taxi both ways would have cost approximately 150 Euros which would have been about $200.  We couldn't find anyone here at the hotel who spoke enough English to try and explain that we would like to know the bus routes if possible.  No such luck!  Perhaps when Ken goes to work tomorrow he can get some information since the Telvent employees have to speak fluent English.

We spent a quiet day together beginning with the lovely buffet breakfast in out hotel that is available every morning from 7 am until 11 am.  Lots of fresh fruit, fresh breads, buns, pastries, cereals, fresh made omelets, assorted cheeses and meats, freshly squeezed orange juice etc.  Our afternoon walk took us about 4 km to some very lovely large historic parks despite the temperatures of 45C - and we wondered why there was hardly anyone walking around as well.  We soon found out they stay inside in this weather until 8 or 9 in the evening when the city comes to life!  Restaurants are open until 2 or 3 am and the streets are lined with out-door eating/drinking establishments - much visiting and merriment for all!

I haven't been away from family for a Mother's Day since 1962 when our first son, Doug, was born.  I  am so thankful for all the blessings I have of being a mother of 4 daughters, 2 sons, 2 step-daughters, a grandmother to 20 of the best grandchildren and great grandmother to 2 of the sweetest great grandchildren!  WOW -I don't feel that old!!!  Kinda dates one doesn't it?  BUT I wouldn't have it any other way.
